Whoever promised that all your skincare problems would go away in your 30s is a liar, but I’m not here to dwell (maybe a bit). At 32, with oily combination skin (which is oily 98% of the time, only to suddenly and dramatically turn into sandpaper if I make one wrong move), uneven skin tone, and hormonal acne that just won’t be stop, I’m still looking for a product that will eliminate all my problems in one fell swoop. And Ren Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Tonic ($39) is one such product.

Ready Steady Glow is a daily toner that works overtime to resurface dull skin and combat hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone. It firms, hydrates, and leaves skin supple and soft before you take on the next step in your skincare or makeup routine. And it’s been my favorite for a few weeks, and one of the very few skin care formulas that has shown drastic improvement in my complexion, let’s be real.

Its star ingredients are lactic acid (an AHA) and salicin (a BHA), both of which are exfoliating acids that dermis like to suggest for people dealing with the previously mentioned skin issues. “Exfoliating acids like lactic acid and salicylic acid help slough off excess dead skin cells and reduce oil production. This can help even out skin tone and improve texture,” says Michele. J. Farber, MD, board-certified dermatologist based in Philadelphia.

And if you’re also escalating what feels like an uphill battle with acne and inflammation, Ready Steady Glow has what it takes to help. The formula contains azelaic acid, which “may help reduce acne and even out pigment,” Farber tells W+G. It also has willow bark (like, from the tree), which is a natural inflammation fighter. “[Willow bark] can help reduce inflammation and associated redness, and it can have an antimicrobial effect,” says Hadley King, MD, a board-certified dermatologist based in New York City.

Although Ren says Ready Steady Glow is safe for all skin types, you might want to be extra careful if you have sensitive skin, as the formula can be drying and contains essential oils, which can irritate some skin tones. To make sure your skin can tolerate it, start by using it a few times a week or dilute the formula with water. Personally, I use it every morning and have been happy with the results (although afterwards I always slather on an ultra-hydrating serum or moisturizer, especially if I’m applying a retinol product the night).

Thousands of buyers agree. “By far my favorite product. I’m now on my second bottle. I notice a big difference in my skin’s texture and overall appearance. I can’t live without my AHA toner!” writes a customer. Another writes, “I’ve been using this product for over a year now and will continue to buy it again and again. I can say without hesitation that it has had such a positive impact on the appearance and tone of my skin and has visibly reduced the size of my pores.”

And if your skin doesn’t dig into the formula, Ren has a great return policy: send the product back within 60 days and you get a full refund. But I have a feeling you won’t have this problem.
