Hitachi High-Tech Analytical Science, a global company within the Hitachi High Tech group, has expanded its range of plating and coatings analysis with the launch of the FT230 breakaway. The new FT230 is designed to allow quality control to keep pace with production by dramatically simplifying and accelerating component and assembly testing. Every aspect of the FT230 has been designed to reduce the time required to perform an XRF measurement. With traditional XRF instruments, approximately 72% of test time is wasted during setup, meaning operators spend significantly more time preparing for a measurement and manipulating results than the instrument spends analyzing the room. The user experience (UX) of the FT230 is greatly enhanced by an intelligent part recognition feature called Find My Part™ which automatically selects features to be measured, analytical routines and reporting rules so the operator spends less time to use the XRF and more time to work on the results. The FT230 is the first product running Hitachi’s brand new FT Connect software, offering the best aspects of its established SmartLink and X-ray Station software and adding new features ready to improve usability. FT Connect completely reverses the traditional interface. Whereas with traditional software most of the screen is taken up with controls – many of which are used rarely, if at all, FT Connect focuses the interface on the most important aspects of XRF. You can instantly get results where you need them with FT Connect’s flexible data processing capabilities. Results are prominently displayed on the main measurement screen so operators can act quickly, and stored on board for later review. Results can be exported as a spreadsheet or full JSON format for integration with SCADA, QMS, MES or ERP systems. Custom reports can also be created for internal or external clients.

Easier instrument maintenance
