Dr. Gagan Bhatia, founder of Uniqaya, a skincare brand, explains that since pregnancy is a phase where the body undergoes enormous changes, it is important to ensure, among other things, that the skin remains healthy and hydrated.

* Stay hydrated and eat properly: Make sure you drink enough water and stay hydrated to cleanse your body of all toxins. Eating plenty of fruits and vegetables is a good way to make sure your skin doesn’t look tired or dull.

* Treat acne breakouts, blemishes and pigmentation easily: Appearance of acne and acne breakouts are common during pregnancy. If you haven’t been blessed with a glowing face, consider washing your face with an oil-free cleanser. Be gentle when drying your skin and opt for non-comedogenic face washes.

* Sleep for at least 8-10 hours: Sleep is essential for your skin. During pregnancy, it is important to get plenty of rest; good sleep will also prevent you from having dark circles.

* Avoid the use of harsh soaps: Harsh soaps can cause your skin to shed its natural oils. Opt for a moisturizing shower gel.

* Protect yourself from the sun: Harmful UVA and UVB rays should not penetrate your skin and damage its texture. In case you suffer from acne problemsconsider using products containing glycolic acid, alpha hydroxy acid, topical erythromycin, or other similar products advised by dermatologists.

* Do not over-exfoliate: Your skin is likely to become sensitive during pregnancy. Make sure you don’t over-exfoliate and maintain the pH balance of the skin.

* Remember to relax: Pregnancy is a beautiful but difficult journey. Relaxation is a must for expectant mothers. It is important to rest well in the morning. A prenatal massage can do wonders for your complexion and skin. Also consider meditation, as its benefits are immense for the mind, body, and soul.

* Consider exercising, but do it lightly: Exercise is essential to ensure a clear complexion and good health. Prenatal yoga is a wonderful way to ensure you stay nimble and fresh. The workout also helps flush out toxins when you sweat, improving blood flow to your face and giving you a healthier appearance.
