Washing your face is the most basic and essential step in any routine to remove environmental pollutants and dirt that our skin is exposed to. It is advisable to wash twice a day, morning and evening, to avoid clogged pores, dullness and acne. The right cleanser cleanses your skin without stripping away essential and healthy oils. First, rinse your face with water and rub a small amount of gentle cleanser suitable for your skin type between your clean palms. Massage the facial cleanser all over the face using light pressure. Rinse your hands and massage your face with water to rinse your face until you have removed cleanser and dirt. Gently pat your face dry with a soft towel.

Step 2 – Moisturize

Moisturizers help prevent water loss through the outer layers of the skin while supplementing the natural protective oils and other building blocks of the skin. Contrary to popular belief, even oily skin needs moisturizer, however, proper skin is light, gel-based, and doesn’t clog pores. Dry skin may benefit from more cream-based moisturizers.

Step 3 – Protect

Sun protection is the most crucial part of any skin care regimen. Protecting the skin from harmful UV rays helps reduce the signs of aging and even prevents skin cancer. It is advisable to apply sunscreen 20 minutes before going out for the sunscreen to be effective. Choose a broad spectrum SPF that is sweat resistant and leaves little or no white cast. Opt for a sunscreen that has an SPF of 30 or higher and apply it daily even on cloudy days, always as the last step in your skincare routine.
