Gram flour is an age-old remedy used for skin care purposes in India. Well, these home remedies have proven effective and so even today this kitchen ingredient should not be overlooked when it comes to healthy and safe skin care at home. Gram flour can be used for the face using a few simple DIY recipes.

remove tan

The linoleic acid in chickpea flour can help remove tanning when combined with other tanning ingredients. To create a detan pack for your face, mix two tablespoons of chickpea flour with a teaspoon of lemon juice and a teaspoon of yogurt. Add a pinch of turmeric and salt and mix all the ingredients to form a batter. Apply the mask to your face, neck and any areas affected by tanning. Let the pack dry on the skin then rinse with cold water.
Point: Apply this detan pack daily before taking a bath.

Remove dead skin cells and impurities

To create a nourishing and exfoliating skin scrub to effectively remove dead skin cells and impurities from your face, gram flour is a pretty good option. Mix two tablespoons of chickpea flour with a tablespoon of ground oats and a tablespoon of cornstarch and a splash of milk. Mix all the ingredients together to make a gritty shtick paste and use it as a scrub on your face and body.
Point: Exfoliate once a week with this DIY scrub.

Treat Acne With Chickpea Flour

Gram flour contains zinc which is an amazing anti-acne ingredient. To prepare an acne mask with chickpea flour, add one teaspoon of chickpea flour and one teaspoon of turmeric to a bowl. Next, add a teaspoon of honey and a teaspoon of lime juice to the gram flour and turmeric and mix all the ingredients together. Apply this pack on your face and leave it on for 15 minutes. Rinse it off with lukewarm water and pat it dry.
Point: Follow up with a creamy face wash, as turmeric may make your skin look yellow.

Remove facial hair

Gram flour is known to help remove fine facial hair easily at home. Add equal parts of gram flour and fenugreek powder to a bowl and add drops of water until you can combine all the ingredients to make a super thick paste. Apply this paste to the areas to be waxed and let it dry. Once dry, moisten your fingers and rub the areas. Wash off with lukewarm water.
Point: Repeat this twice a week for a month to see visible results.

Treating Flaky Skin

If your skin is dry and flaky, try mixing a tablespoon of chickpea flour with a teaspoon of skin-safe olive oil, three drops of fresh lemon juice and a teaspoon of honey. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl to form a paste. Apply this mixture all over your face and rinse off after scrubbing for five minutes.
Point: Pat the skin dry and apply a moisturizing face cream enriched with vitamin E.

remove acne scars

Gram flour can be used to remove acne spots and scars by exfoliating the skin and correcting discoloration. To create an acne scar fading pack, mix one tablespoon of gram flour and two tablespoons of fresh milk with a pinch of turmeric powder to create a smooth paste. Apply this paste evenly on the skin and let it sit for 25 minutes until it starts to dry out. Rinse off this face mask with lukewarm water and enjoy the results.
Point: Regular use will help clear acne spots completely.

Treat oily skin

Oily skin tends to produce excess sebum which clogs pores and makes the skin oily. It also accumulates a lot of dirt in the skin. Masks made with chickpea flour can help deeply cleanse the skin and balance sebum production. Beat an egg white and add two tablespoons of chickpea flour to it to make an easy mask for oily skin. Apply this mask on your face and let it sit for 15 minutes. Wash it in cold water and dry it.
Point: Don’t forget to moisturize with a moisturizing gel after using this pack.
