A diet for flawless skin

When we scroll through a lifestyle magazine today, one noticeable shift we see is that skincare is finally getting its due. Previously, conversations were about makeup; we’ve finally progressed to understand that without great skin, makeup can’t do much. Therefore, the holy grail we are chasing today is a skin care routine that works for all skin types.

Master the basics well

Ideally, we should take care of our skin at least twice a day, which is also known as the AM-PM skin routine.

In the morning, cleanse your skin of all the products from the night before. This first layer is also known as the active layer which is based on what your skin actually needs like (pigmentation, skin dehydration, anti-aging). Depending on the concerns, apply active treatment-based products such as (hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, niacinamide).

The next step is to apply a moisturizer according to your skin type. For oily skin, use a gel-based moisturizer and for dry skin, use a cream-based moisturizer.

The final steps include applying sunscreen with an SPF of 30 and above. For people who wear make-up, sun creams with foundation are also available.

In the evening, always start by cleansing your skin: you can use a soap-free cleanser if you have sensitive or dry skin and a regular facial cleanser if you have oily skin to wash your face.

Apply your active ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, niacinamide or retinol. The final step includes applying a moisturizer. This is the best time to exfoliate your skin.

There are three key factors to remember here:

l A 60-second pause between each step allows for meticulous application and leaves sufficient time for the skin to soak up the products.

l Try to stick to the mentioned steps as it is a science. Lighter products or those requiring deeper penetration are applied initially to seal with heavier products.

l As they say, less is more, absorbing anything beyond 3 layers is not possible.

Personalize the routine

From now on, we have discussed the skincare regimen in its most basic form; when your skin needs more help, you need to do more. Therefore, if you are in your early thirties, you can add anti-aging ingredients to your regimen, such as hyaluronic acid (HA) or ceramides. The former is a particularly strong contender and if you choose it in the form of a bio-remodeling skin treatment such as Profhilo, you will achieve smooth, firm and youthful looking skin. Indeed, this injectable form of pure HA helps your skin’s ability to generate elastin and collagen, essential for the elasticity of youthful skin. Profhilo is widely known to slow down the aging process. Skin boosters like this help enormously in retaining moisture in the skin from within to keep you looking flawless.

The basic skincare routine is as simple as “abc…”, but customizing it to your skin’s needs takes work. Always remember to keep your skin’s health front and center when customizing your regimen.
